GET INVOLVED

If you wish to help us and send postcards, please read the instructions below to ensure your card won't be discarded.

Postcard format and themes

  • If themes are specified for the recipients, it would be nice if you can find a postcard on the themes requested, but any other card that you yourself would enjoy receiving will be welcome too! Touristic cards, thematic cards, quotes, all are fine.

  • The postcards should be no bigger than 186mm x 139 mm / 7 x 5 inch. The cards will all be put in sleeves before being sent to the recipients and anything bigger will not fit. No folded card please.

  • Please do not send postcards with religious themes unless specifically requested.

  • Please do not self-print images off the internet to make postcards - we do not wish for this project to receive any postcard that would infringe copyrights, so please use postcards bought from reliable sources.

What to write - constraints

  • Please only write in English on the postcards. We will advise when requests for other languages become available.

  • Please refrain from making religious comments as you do not know how the recipient may perceive it. You may wish to send your blessings, but the recipients might feel offended.

  • No political comments for the same reasons.

  • Also, please do not write advice on how a person should live their lives or overcome issues. While well-intended, it may be very inappropriate.

  • Do not write your address on the postcard. We aim at protecting the recipients' data privacy, as well as yours!

  • Please ensure that sufficient postage is affixed to the postcard. We will reject requests to pay for insufficient postage.

  • Should you wish to send several postcards for several recipients, please feel free to send them in an envelope to reduce the shipping costs.

What to write - now for the fun bit!

  • Please write as if you were giving news to an old friend you haven't spoken to in a while! :)

  • You can introduce yourself briefly, where you live, your hobbies

  • You can talk about something specific you did or are looking forward to, somewhere you went, or just what you did today.

  • You could share a favourite memory of yours, something that made you happy.

Example:

Hello!

My name is xxx and I live in xxx, UK. I enjoy reading and cross-stitch. This weekend we met up with a friend at a local coffee shop. I hadn't seen her in 3 years! We had a delicious lemon and poppy seed muffin! It was wonderful to catch up with her after all this time, although it felt like we had just seen each other the day before! And we planned to meet up again next month!

Wishing you all the best

Stephanie

Thank you very much for your help!

DONATIONS

Like with any such enterprise, there are costs involved. From the website host, to the PO Box and the shipping costs, it all adds up. We thank you very much if you wish to help with these. We will however only look into this once we have secured an agreement to send postcards to specific organisations and once we start receiving enough postcards to forward, i.e. when we are sure this project is there to stay and not just an attempt that doesn't go anywhere :)
